After Abortion

In 1988, Dr. David Reardon founded the Elliot Institute in order to conduct original research on the effects of abortion on women, men, families and society. His first study was funded by a few donations from friends and family, and in the early years he did everything himself on a volunteer basis, squeezed in between his “regular” job and raising a family.

Catholic In Recovery

Catholic in Recovery is a nonprofit organization that seeks to serve those suffering from addictions and unhealthy attachments (including alcoholism, drug addiction, pornography addiction, sex and relationship addiction, compulsive overeating and food addictions, gambling addiction, codependency and the impact on family, and general fear, control, and anxiety).  The organization was started by the passion of Scott Weeman as he found healing and new life through the help of twelve step recovery and the sacramental love and mercy provided by the Catholic Church. We support parishes and communities with group resources that draw people closer to these two powerful sources of grace. It is the aim of Catholic in Recovery to share the Good News that God can bring about healing and recovery, even in the most hopeless of cases.

Healing Grace Florida

Very few women or men walk away from an abortion experience without regrets.  It was supposed to be a quick fix – the only way to keep your life on track…but as hard as you try, the memories won’t stay buried.  The broken places in your life keep surfacing.  The “freedom to choose” doesn’t feel like freedom at all.

Abortion Healing
Rachels Vineyard

The program is an opportunity to examine your abortion experience, identify the ways that the loss has impacted you in the past and present, and helps to acknowledge any unresolved feelings that many individuals struggle with after abortion. Because of the emotional numbness and secrecy that often surrounds an abortion experience, conflicting emotions both during and after the event may remain unresolved. These buried feelings can surface later and may be symptoms of post abortion trauma.

Reach out to people hurt by abortion, encouraging them to attend abortion after-care programs. Invite those who are ready to break the silence to join us in speaking the truth about abortion's negative consequences and the hope found in healing.
