Math is hard. Don’t harsh his buzz. If we told him that when the denominator (the one on the bottom) is bigger, the fraction gets...smaller, it might be enough for him to figure out that saying “we don’t test enough asymptotic people” means a higher percentage recovered. The failure of people to understand basic math and logic has reached peak stupidity. Almost any exchange on Twitter devolves into a recognition few can pass remedial math. Two weeks ago, the media missed the failure of the models. Last week, it missed the emptying of hospitals nationwide. What will it miss this week? Btw - here are NY state numbers for new hospitalizations, ICU beds, and intubations, all now - and this is with hospitals coding every possible case as #COVID because of the 20% bonus. In fact, the trials showed the vaccines did have a nasty short-term side effect profile - and that it worsened after the second dose. And despite their size, the trials failed to catch severe side effects for both the mRNA vaccines (which - at the least - cause heart inflammation in some young people) and the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines, which cause a rare but particularly nasty form of blood clotting. |
