Same-Sex Parenting: The Child Maltreatment No One Mentions

any are aware of University of Texas sociologist Dr. Mark Regnerus’s studies several years ago which indicated—he was careful to avoid sweeping conclusions—that, among other things, children reared in homes headed by same-sex parents were “more likely” to: have poor educational attainment, cohabit when they became adults, be sexually molested, have sexually transmitted diseases, smoke tobacco and marijuana, be on public assistance as adults, be in mental health counseling or therapy and suffer from depression, and get into trouble with the law. Regnerus’s careful research, not unexpectedly, was met by denunciation from mainstream social scientists, who claimed his research was flawed without even seriously examining his data. The peer-reviewed professional journal that published the results of his studies was attacked, and the charge made that its review procedure was flawed. He was even subjected to a “scientific misconduct” investigation by his university, which ultimately exonerated him.

Sullins’s own research has shown the following. In comparison to children with opposite-sex parents, children in the care of same-sex couples, were: almost twice as likely to have a developmental disability; almost twice as likely to have had medical treatment for an emotional problem and three times as likely to have had medicine prescribed for a psychological condition in the past year before the study; ten times more likely to have been sexually touched by a parent or other adult and four times more likely to have been forced to have sex against their will; less likely, when reaching adolescence, to have romantic relationships or to see themselves in a future relationship involving pregnancy or marriage (which suggests that their situation influences them away from relationships with the opposite sex); twice as likely, when becoming adults, to suffer from depression and four times as likely to consider suicide;...

Padre Peregrino

My name is Fr. David Nix.  I was born and raised in the city of Denver. While premed at Boston College, I also worked as an EMT.  After graduation, I became a paramedic for the city and county of Denver in 2002.  Later, I did mission work and finally entered seminary.  In 2010, I was ordained a Catholic priest for my home diocese.  My passions include the missions, languages and the end of abortion and child-trafficking.  I have done missionary work in North America, South America, Africa, Europe and Asia.  In light of Pope Benedict XVI’s 2007 Summorum Pontificum, I have chosen the ancient use of the sacraments, including the Traditional Latin Mass and calendar.  I am currently on-loan to a diocese in Florida.

Same-Sex Parenting: The Child Maltreatment No One Mentions

Even if further research makes the harm of same-sex parenting indisputable—which, to this social scientist, is virtually so already—don’t expect mainstream social science to accept it. Ideology has long-since replaced true scholarship there—they are blind followers masquerading as independent thinkers at the cutting edge. Also, don’t expect the CPS to start thinking that the damage caused to children by same-sex parenting—and certainly not the whole notion of same-sex parenting itself—qualifies as child maltreatment.

The Catholic View for Women

In developing the idea for The Catholic View For Women we have established the following goals for our show:
To reach Catholic women in the pews who are cafeteria Catholics, who have never been exposed to the fullness of the faith because of poor Catechesis.
To reach fallen away Catholic women like us and show them the beauty of the faith/Church teaching and how Jesus is the greatest liberator of women and the greatest source of our dignity.
To reach un-churched who have completely fallen away from the faith.
To encourage today’s faithful Catholic women that they can be in the world and not of the world.
To meet women where they are at in their walk with the Lord and the Church.
To help parents in their efforts to raise their daughters as faith-filled Catholic women.
To offer a positive, relevant, and fun alternative to today’s toxic TV shows targeting women

ABYSSUS ABYSSUM INVOCAT / DEEP CALLS TO DEEP

My name is Rene Henry Gracida. I am a Roman Catholic bishop. I am Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, having served as the Fifth Ordinary, or Diocesan Bishop, of that Diocese from May 19, 1983 until my retirement on April 1, 1997. The title of my Blog, Abyssus Abyssum Invocat is my episcopal motto and is taken from the 41/42/43 rd Psalm. It is translated “Deep is calling to Deep.” It expresses the thought contained in Saint Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians: “The Lord has said ‘My grace is enough for you; my power is at its best in weakness’, so I shall be very happy to make my weaknesses my special boasts so that the power of Christ may stay over me, and that is why I am quite content with my weaknesses, and with insults, hardships persecutions, and the agonies I go through for Christ’s sake.

The Catholic Thing

The Catholic thing – the concrete historical reality of Catholicism – is the richest cultural tradition in the world. It was born from Judaism and, through that spiritual parentage, even reaches back into the great ancient civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia. In its early days, it confronted, absorbed, and redirected what was then the most sophisticated society in existence, Greco-Roman culture. When that culture fell, Catholicism preserved what it could and rebuilt the rest over centuries, incorporating new influences from Northern Europe and, during the great age of exploration, from the entire globe. Today, it numbers over a billion souls on every continent. Despite its all-too-human imperfections, there is simply nothing like it.

Midlife cardiovascular fitness and dementia A 44-year longitudinal population study in women

Conclusions Among Swedish women, a high cardiovascular fitness in midlife was associated with a decreased risk of subsequent dementia. Promotion of a high cardiovascular fitness may be included in strategies to mitigate or prevent dementia. Findings are not causal, and future research needs to focus on whether improved fitness could have positive effects on dementia risk and when during the life course a high cardiovascular fitness is most important.
