Economy and Jobs
Prior to Coronavirus, President Trump brought America’s economy back with a more inclusive environment so that all Americans can start their own business and create generational wealth for their families.
  • Under President Trump’s leadership, Congress passed historic tax cuts for hard-working Americans. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:
      • Created nearly 9,000 Opportunity Zones in primarily minority communities across America
      • Is projected to spur over $100 billion in private investments which will impact 1.4 million minority households
      • Doubled the Child Tax Credit proving an additional $1,000 per child in tax relief for parents
  • President Trump is fostering economic growth in record numbers. Black Americans are seeing unprecedented levels of economic success, with record low unemployment rates, more jobs, and higher incomes:
      • Prior to COVID 19, Nearly 1.3 million more Black Americans found a job since President Trump’s election
      • The Black unemployment rate hit a record low, 5.4 percent prior to COVID 19
        • Prior to the Trump Administration, the Black unemployment rate had never been below 7 percent
      • In 2019, the unemployment rate for Black women hit a record low of 4.4 percent
      • In 2019, the gap between the women’s and Black women’s unemployment rate fell to a record low of just 1.1 percent 
      • Black median household income is at its highest level since 2001
      • The Black poverty rate was at its lowest level in history
      • 350,000 Black Americans were lifted out of poverty under President Trump before COVID 19
  • President Trump signed an executive order that expanded apprenticeship programs and   on-the-job training, to provide an alternative for those looking to gain in demand skills that lack the resources to attend four-year universities:
      • The executive order made it easier for businesses to create and scale apprenticeship programs, providing more Americans access to an affordable education that leads to a well-paying job
      • Established the Workforce Development Advisory Council, which aims to create on-the-job training opportunities for more than 6.5 million Americans
Criminal Justice Reform
President Trump is committed to giving Americans a second chance at life and the American dream: 
  • President Trump signed the historic FIRST STEP ACT into law:
      • 90 percent of those who have had their sentences reduced are Black Americans 
      • The First Step Act shortens mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug crimes
      • The law allows offenders sentenced under racially motivated mandatory minimums to petition for revaluation 
  • President Trump reauthorized the Second Chance Act – creating an opportunity for former prisoners to rejoin society by partnering with corporate America: 
      • Launched the “Ready to Work” Initiative,” which is helping released prisoners gain meaningful employment 
      • President Trump’s goal is to reduce the overall recidivism rate in the country
