2020 Hillsborough Delegation Meeting for 2021 Session  STILL WORKING ON GATHERING TALKING POINTS AND INFORMATION.. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SEND IT TO ME!

Topics to consider: It always helps to personalize your message when possible.  If you are pro-life but emphasizing another topic at the end just mention you support a Heartbeat Bill and desire to see one passed this session.

  1. Lock downs (Prefer this term to pandemic)
    1. The impact on small businesses- closings
      1. Closings- Did one of your favorite small businesses close?  Did you know the owners?  How long had you supported the business? Did your family business close?
      2. Unemployment ...
    2. Family- domestic violence
      1. "The person choosing to use violence -- the perpetrator -- employs violence as a tool to establish and maintain power and control over their partner," Paradiso explained. "That need for power is, in part, a reflection of the lack of power they feel over their environment. COVID has brought with it just about every uncertainty any of us can imagine: Will we lose our jobs? Be furloughed? When will be allowed to go back to work or school? Can I make my rent payment? And on and on."
      2. The data that show a decrease in the number of reports of violence are an alarm call. It is reasonable to believe that personal restriction measures during the pandemic pose a dangerous risk factor for domestic violence which may be fuelled by elements such as:

      • close contact between the victim–abuser in terms of shared space and time;
      • the increase in stress caused by social, economic, psychological factors;
      • the lack of opportunities for the victim to escape abuse;
      • a reduction in the victim’s contacts with outsiders.
      • We believe that it is essential that the competent authorities and the associations in charge remain vigilant and find and maintain new communication strategies with victims.
      • Children -academic performance and lack of socialization, those stuck in abusive homes without help….
    3. Suicide rate increase…In FL & Hillsborough
    4. Drug Overdose rate increase…In FL and Hillsborough.
      1. The 2019 Medical Examiners data report was released last month (November).

        2019 Highlights: Total of 12,574 Floridians died with drugs in their system, most with more than one drug in their system.

         Compared to 2018
        - Total drug deaths increased by 4 percent (494 more).
        - Total opioid related deaths increased by 10% (522 more)
        - 15% increase in opioid caused deaths (567 more)

        Although we do not have official data for 2020 as yet, we already know that there was a large report of increases Nationally (30%) , and we expect that in Florida

  2. Truth about Covid articles and data… (already filing more free testing bills by Dems)Cases going up but deaths going down, validity of testing, incentives to designate cause of death as Covid, ... excellent article with many talking points.
  3. Truth about Masks
  4. Gun Control- Legislation to lessen the broad definition of a bump stock bill in works ... will update soon.
    1. The statue is below. We want to strike the last part that defines bumpstocks as things that aren’t bumpstocks.

      790.222 Bump-fire stocks prohibited.—A person may not import into this state or transfer, distribute, sell, keep for sale, offer for sale, possess, or give to another person a bump-fire stock. A person who violates this section commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. As used in this section, the term “bump-fire stock” means a conversion kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire or which is used to increase the rate of fire to a faster rate than is possible for a person to fire such semiautomatic firearm unassisted by a kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device.

      History.—s. 13, ch. 2018-3.

  5. Heartbeat Bill Sponsor and Pass the
    1. 2019 Heartbeat Bill in Florida died in committee
    2. Doesn't appear as though much happened throughout the nation in 2020 for this cause.
  6. Voter Integrity!!- Why did multiple addresses have several people not in the family nor previous tenants registered to vote?  HOW ARE THE VOTE BY MAIL BALLOTS SIGNATURES VERIFIED???

I always write my message, listen to myself read it, rewrite it then practice to sound articulate. Every word is important and time is limited. Typically, my messages are clear and succinct because I practice. I know many others can just wing it but I like to feel confident.
